Back in CA
Well, we are now back in CA. I thought now with all my copious free time (we're renting not fixing up a 90 year old house) I would try the blogging thing again. Especially now with the whole Facebook content issue, maybe I should concentrate on a blog where I have control over the content and I could still keep in touch with my friends (Google Reader anyone?). Let's see how long I last this time with blogging.

Welcome to the house
doing with the house, maybe I should post to the
blog. I'm going to start with a spare bedroom. It
was the first room we started in the house. Even
before we moved in. It was painted pink with
carpet were the Barbie stencils on the walls. This
was really CP's favorite part of the room. He can
still recite what was written on the wall, even
though he has not seen it in almost two years.

Fake Brick
And this is why I hate fake brick
1. It's ugly
2. It's impossible to remove from your walls.
3. It destroys your walls in your attempt to take it off the walls
4. It screams 1972.
5. Did I mention it's ugly ?
So this weekend we tried to start removing it from the backsplash of our kitchen.

While we were chipping away, layer by layer....
First the major parts of the brick. Than the layer of mortor stuck to the poor plaster walls. Some areas played nice, others not so much.
What our walls looked like after removing all the layers of the lovely brick.

It was a pretty close call, if I should just rip it all out and just put of drywall. I'm trying to repair it this week. Let's see if it works.
